Age checks by state and country

Updated October 16, 2026 · sites checked October 15, 2026

Every cam site asks you to be 18 or over. What changes is how it checks: a click to confirm, a free account, a card, a selfie or an ID. That depends on the site and on where you are when you open it. Here is what you will be asked, place by place, and the law behind it.

Site by site

What a visitor sees on arrival, without an account, from residential connections in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada. Checked on October 15, 2026.

Age verification: a check run by the site or a company it hires, before any adult content. Account to verify age: a free account first, then the check. One click (18+): a button to confirm you are 18 or over. 18+ notice: a notice on the page, nothing to click.

In a US state with an age verification law

27 states have a law that makes adult sites check the age of their visitors: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming. Most apply to sites where a third or more of the content is sexual material that is harmful to minors; a few set no share at all. In June 2025 the Supreme Court upheld the Texas law in Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton.

What you will see there: Stripchat, Chaturbate, CamSoda, BongaCams, LiveJasmin, Jerkmate, CAM4 and ImLive ask for an age verification before any adult content; Xtease and MyFreeCams ask for a free account to verify your age. Chaturbate names Texas and Alabama on the page itself.

In the other US states

No age check law applies. The sites ask for a click to confirm you are 18 or over, or show an 18+ notice. A site can still ask for a check when you create an account or buy tokens.

In the United Kingdom

Since July 25, 2025, under the Online Safety Act, every site or app that allows pornography must check that you are 18 or over with a method that Ofcom, the regulator, calls highly effective. Ticking a box to say you are over 18 is no longer enough, and the site has to tell you which methods it accepts before you start.

All ten sites on the shelf ask for an age check from the UK before any adult content, Xtease and MyFreeCams through a free account first.

In Australia

Since March 9, 2026, the Age-Restricted Material Codes registered by the eSafety Commissioner ask pornography sites to check that their Australian visitors are 18 or over. Sites choose among several methods, such as face estimation, a photo ID, a credit card or a digital ID; a government ID should not be the only option, and the check must follow the Privacy Act.

What each site asked a visitor from Australia on October 13, 2026 is in the table above.

In Canada

Canada has no age verification law for adult sites in force; a Senate bill, S-209, is before Parliament. All ten sites ask for a click to confirm you are 18 or over, or show an 18+ notice.

What a check asks of you

Depending on the site and the company it hires, you may be asked for one of these:

The check is run by the site or by the company it hires. The Cam Verdict sees none of it. Before you send a document or a card, read the site's privacy policy: who checks, what is kept and for how long. Some sites check once; others ask again on a new device or a new visit.

If a site asks you to verify

That is the law where you are, applied by the site. Use one of the methods it offers, or choose another site from the table above. This site never explains how to avoid a check.

Every page of The Cam Verdict carries the RTA label, which parental control tools read.
